What is ShadowIRCd?

ShadowIRCd is an IRC daemon package. It is a modern reboot of the old ShadowIRCd project and is now based on Charybdis IRCd. ShadowIRCd mainly adds many new features on top of Charybdis. We also highly value clean code and not pointless complexity.

Who develops ShadowIRCd?

ShadowIRCd is developed by an small group of dedicated coders. Anyone can participate in the ShadowIRCd development process, simply by using our bugtracking instance.

What features does ShadowIRCd have?

ShadowIRCD has many of the typical features you expect in most full featured IRCd's such as:

Admin and Halfop channel modes.
Usermode-based oper-override system with configurable expiry timer.
IP Cloaking.
Autojoin-on-connect and autojoin-on-operup.
The ability to exempt channel operators from the effects of various channel modes.

Where is ShadowIRCd going in the future?

ShadowIRCd development is guided by it's core developers. To get an idea of the developmental direction of the project, visit our IRC channel or browse the enhancements section of the bugtracking instance. We also welcome suggestions for new features either in our IRC channel or on our bugtracker.

Where can I get the latest code?

Install Git, then do: git clone git://git.atheme.org/unofficial/shadowircd.git

Where can I go to get help if I have any questions or if something breaks?

If there are any questions you may have, the developers are quite active on our IRC channel and we're quite happy to help with that or bugs. If you can't get on IRC, or you want to report a bug so we don't forget about it, please use our bugtracking instance. We also have a webchat client if you'd prefer to use that to get in touch with us via IRC.

What IRC services packages does ShadowIRCd work with?

We highly recommend Atheme IRC Services. ShadowIRCd may work with Anope 1.8.x using the charybdis protocol module and 1.9.x using the ratbox protocol module, but it is not recommended and it has not been tested by the ShadowIRCd developers.
